A day of rest

sunny 72 °F

Saturday, 10/2/10. I am in bed today. Last night I started getting sick and although I didn't vomit, it was coming out the other end in torrents. Ugh! I never get sick but I was told that this is normal and happens often to newcomers. I didn't dare stray from my room and later this afternoon, Susie (my landlord) came up to check on me. My stomach does not feel good either. I don't have an appetite so the only thing I've had to eat today was a vegan snack I brought with me. I hope I feel better tomorrow.

Jan, drink lots of liquids so whatever you have can pass as quickly as possible. To make a quick electrolyte replacement add one tsp of salt and one TBLS of sugar to 8-10 oz glass of water. Drink at least 6 glasses per day. When you can eat start with rice and chicken soup. So sorry that you are sick. If needed does Susie know of a doctor who might treat you?
I love you honey,
Sissy

Jan, what an adventure you have had already. I'm so sorry I didn't get to call you or see you before you left on your adventure, I read in an email (all I can remember is reading 3-4 months), is that. I thought you were going to LEAVE in 3-4 months! DUH! I'm glad you are doing a blog to keep us all updated on your trip. I wish you all the best. Keep safe! Love, Donna

I'm SO sorry you are sick!! I've been meaning to ask if you can drink the water there, etc. We couldn't in Italy back in the 70's and had to be careful of salad, etc. It might be wise to consult a doctor as I'm sure it's connected with bugs you're not used to. We even shied away from ice back then. I hope you feel better fast. Sissy gave you some good advice!
